live to create : marc jacobs inspired bracelet

IMG_2161

After seeing this bracelet in a few magazines and online, I really wanted it. I went onto Shopbop and was about to purchase it when I realized that I could probably make something similar to it. So I tried, and succeeded! Below is the tutorial for the Marc Jacobs inspired sporty turnlock bracelet. It looks easy, but it's actually easier than you probably think it is. Good sign, yes?

{you will need}
black suede rope
gold link chain
jewelry closure
super glue
pliers

You can find all the supplies at your local craft and fabric store or online at M&J Trimming.

First, cut enough of the linked chain to cover the top half of your wrist.

Second, using the recently cut linked chain measure the three times the length of the black suede rope.

Third, bend the black suede rope in half and run the looped end through the end of one chain link. Take the ends of the rop and run it through the loop to secure the chain. Repeat on the other side with the other black suede rope strand.

Fourth, tie a knot around the clasp on one side and close on the other side, being sure to measure the bracelet around your wrist. If you need to, create more slack when tying the knot. Trim the ends, apply super glue to the knot to reinforce the knot.
