vogue : one dress, three bloggers

I think I can say that I've become a pro at dressing from day-to-night! After working in DC and NYC, you become accustomed to dressing flexibly to fit different occasions. There are a few guidelines to keep in mind, and you can do it too! In general, you want to stick to a single focal piece. Here, you have the blue dress as the focal point. You can make a silk blouse on a suit be a focal point too. Choose a fun, bold color that is appropriate for your day responsibilities like meetings, but a color that can also be worn for evening drinks with friends.

day | For daytime outfits, I like to look tailored and polished. I like to add a fitted blazer or cardigan to bring an outfit together. And for a little added fun, throw in some splash with a neon belt!

night | I love the recent statement necklace trend. Minimal work needs to be done when you've got a beautiful piece of jewelry around your neck. Just wear some fun shoes in a similar color palette as your accessories and you're ready for the night!

In case you're wondering why I chose this dress, Joy of Frock Files posted an instagram of herself in it and I was instantly swept off my feet! In the end, Louise of Laid off Mom got one in the leopard print as I got one in this royal blue,  and we thought it would be a great idea to see how we would accessorize the dress. Joy's style reflects romance and softness as she tends to go for classic pieces. Louise is the trendiest mom I know and adds a little spunk and charm to her style. Check out their blogs for how they've styled their dresses!

  9. You know I love a dual use piece! Since I'm traveling more often, that's all I buy. Great ideas for turning this in to both a work and evening piece.
