Last week while in Key West we were scouting out for some quality Cuban cuisine and found ourselves at Havana 1. It was such an incredible experience. The food was aromatic and authentic and cooked all to perfection, but the restaurant also doubled as an art studio featuring the owner, Juan Ego's work. His work includes art of portraying compassion, sociopolitical issues and moments in his life. I don't share my political beliefs on c&é, but I will admit that meeting compassionate Cubans who have done so well to build a livelihood considering US-Cuban relations, brings warmth to my heart.
