the joy of : beautiful, powerful women

She was a woman of many talents, but what made Jackie O. stand out was her ability to design and entertain. She was the one who led the White House restoration project, and since her work the rooms have been barely touched. Just like her she has added her touches of grace and elegance to every room. Most notably is the fact that she is such a great entertainer and while Kennedy was in office, Jacqueline Kennedy was highly regarded among many diplomats and notables. It was because of her incredible French speaking skills was Kennedy well received as president in France. Furthermore, my favorite story is when Soviet Premier Nikita Krushchev visited the White House and when about to shake hands with the President, he asked to shake hands with the First Lady first.

I couldn't be more in love with Audrey Hepburn. Her charismatic personality and beauty have been translated over and over in every single one of her spectacular films. Her marriage with Robert Wolders was genuine and simple, something I aspire to have one day. Though she is known as an artist on the screen, she was definitely a humanitarian and at heart. After all the fame and lights, she devoted much of her life to UNICEF [with Robert Wolders] inspired by her time spent during World War II. Her work in Africa, South America, and Asia earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992.

Since Diana, it has been hard to come across a women so poised, sophisticated and benevolent. As the Princess she frequently visited hospitals and schools. Soon she was taking a greater interest in serious illnesses and took on charities that supported AIDS research and development. Along with that she even joined charities and organizations that dealt with children, the homeless, elderly and other serious illnesses. During her final year, Diana supported the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which won the Nobel Peace Prize just months after her death.

It's women like these that I strive to be like everyday. Qualities that are genuine and hardworking no matter how much power and wealth comes into their hands. It's important to be true to yourself, but most importantly to others. Self-less deeds go a long way.
