parties & entertaining : festive thanksgiving table setting

With Thanksgiving on Thursday and me in the midst of studying and many, many miles away from the US, I thought I’d share only a bit of Thanksgiving inspiration with you. Something for all of you who are last minute Thankgiving party throwers. I know I’ll probably be doing something last minute since it’s typically not the norm here to celebrate. I have a few American friends and many international friends who are just so fascinated by the holiday. So this week on the blog will be Thanksgiving week!

I will warn you that the following table setting may seem overwhelming and intimidating, but don’t let it be. It’s simply three things that you can put together the last minute that can bring an ordinary table with a white table cloth to life!

First, you will need the flowers. I suggest getting two wooden boxes and filling them with moss then adding fall flowers to the mix. For a great guide to arranging flowers, I would recommend this article by The Goop and follow the directions of a square vase. Be sure to include lots of green leaves and white with just random occurrences of reds and purples.
Second, as you can see from above and below that gold is the color that brings everything together in a chic and subtle way. Use tiny terra cotta planters like these and collect the last remaining leaves off your tree or purchase a few faux leaves and spray paint them gold! Be sure to spray paint in a well-insulated area.
Finally, Use simple white dishes, vintage silverware, and write the name of each guest on a gold leaf. Place each leaf on the side of each placing. Light tea candles and place inside the terra cotta pots. You’ve got yourself a beautiful Thanksgiving table!

Wasn’t that easy? I’m hoping to put something simple together for all of my friends over here this weekend. We’ll see how it goes especially considering I have very little help!
{tomorrow for Thanksgiving week on c&é} a Thanksgiving host gift guide.
{later on during Thanksgiving week on c&é} a recipe and some thankful wishes

  • How beautiful! I love the idea of using the gold leaves as place cards. Looking forward to what's up next for Thanksgiving Week! 🙂
