Every year the state of Gujarat in Western India celebrates the kite festival, Utraan the beginning of the new year. The day, 14 January, marks the end of winter and the change in winds for farmers in the Gujarat region. The statewide holiday entails lots of great food, treats and of course kites! As the day comes to an end, paper lanterns are lit and sent into the sky.
Love these photos... so beautiful! Reminds me of one of my favorite novels, The Kite Runner. Have a great weekend, Supal!
