vogue : my summer make-up guide

summer make-up guide via chevrons & éclairs
With the peak of summer upon us, make-up seems like something you do not have the slightest desire to put on your face. It’s true that heat and humidity mixed with make-up can cause all sorts of break outs and blemishes. It’s normal. I’ve come up with my own combination of a summer make-up guide.

{toner}
Right before applying, I always wash my face with cold water to close up the pores then apply some of Estée Lauder’s cleansing and purifying toner. This levels out your skin and allows for a clean base to work with. Toner is a light cleanser and when searching for a toner, stick to something that is alcohol and paraben free.

{cc cream}
cc cream has become the new bb cream with a lighter feel, formulated with nourishing ingredients and aims to provide skin with effective coverage. It’s a lighter liquid foundation that takes the extra effort to help your skin and keep it glowing throughout the day or evening.

{powdered mineral makeup}
No matter what season, I always wear powdered mineral makeup. I like the light, feathery feel against my skin and the fact that it is quite effective due to the high natural pigment concentration. Throughout the years, I noticed my skin getting much better since transitioning to powdered mineral makeup, and here’s the one I use!

{lip color sticks}
I consider color sticks to be summer’s lipstick. Lips should be stained with a natural hue. I’m a big fan of color sticks, especially the Clinique ones here, as they provide the full package. Full moisture, SPF and the stained look.

{eyes}
If there is one thing I always enjoy, that’s good eye make-up. Fun fact: I never leave the house without mascara. I prefer to go pencil liner over the summer months and smudge the edges to get a bit of a shadow. Pair with a light swipe of golden shadow for a finishing sun-kissed look and swipe on some of that of Estée Lauder’s TurboLash All Effects Motion mascara for open-beautiful eyes.

    As someone who always goes light on make-up, summer seems to be even moreso.

    With the tops down, windows down, or whatever other summer place your in, I always feel like the wind is whipping in my face. if I am wearing a sticky lip balm or product, my hair always gets stuck, so annoying! I really like to keep a stick of the tinted SPS Burts bees lip balms [http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/lip-care/tinted-lip-balm.html]. Keeps them fresh looking, and helps with that summer ‘dry out’ that can happen with so much fun in the sun!
