vogue : inspired by Amélie

Just to get in the mood, lets turn on a little music from the Amélie soundtrack.
I’m completely in love with the French film, Amélie! It’s such a beautiful film and definitely deserves at least a one time watch. I saw it in high school and since then It’s my go-to film for any girls night. On top of that, I do enjoy the delicate French style. Stripes, pastels, flats, purely minimalistic.
Here is the collection of what I find to be quintessential Amélie.

{the bob}
Personally, I could never go this short, however I have had a bob. Accompany this short bob with short bangs. It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in her prime. It’s short, sweet and polished.
{chanel no. 5}
Nothing says French couture than Chanel. I do love a simple, floral fragrance and Chanel no. 5 is perfect. It can be used for day or night and sets well as you wear it throughout the day. It’s a classic perfume, just like a go to pair of skinny jeans.

{gold flats}
Flats are a must to pull off the outfits of Amélie. Stick to metallics or classique colors such as black, red, and blush. It’s chic and perfect for a day of running around like errands.
{pink cheeks}
I do pride the French in their minimalistic daily make-up routine. It’s such a beautiful look to accentuate the key facial features like the eyes with mascara and cheeks with blush. Pick a rosy color for your skin tone and brush only on the apples of your cheeks.
{striped dress}
This stripped dress or a stripped blouse with cropped pants and a pair of flats. See how I did that? The stripes crazy was obviously adopted from our Parisian fashionable women.

Have you seen Amélie? What are your favorite scenes?

  • One of my absolute favorite films! I just rewatched it a couple of weeks ago. It’s so sweet and inspiring; a constant reminder to keep enjoying life’s simple pleasures and to bring love to everyone. Great post, Supes! 🙂

    Just stumbled upon your blog, and your beautiful post on Ms. Tatou caused me pause: stripes, ballet flats, Chanel– how wonderful! … (though for full-disclosure I can only wear No. 5 on rare occasions, finding more favor with Coco Mademoiselle… there should be a Chanel perfume scale, matching them to one’s mood)
    Any how, I can already tell I will be spending the weekend to peruse this blog, and for that I thank you. I adore blogs like these if only for knowing that there are others in this world who find beauty in all degrees of life.
    Much obliged.

    • I am so honored, Ana! I’m more of a Coco Mademoiselle girl myself for everyday where, and Chance on the weekends. Look forward to seeing future comments 🙂 xx

  • I remember you watching it for like the 2309483rd time while you were at St A and telling me about it!
