“I fall in love with people’s passion.
The way their eyes light up when they
talk about the thing they love and
the way they fill with light.”

♫♪ Cat Power – Sea of Love

It seems as if I have been interacting a bit more with my friends lately. Probably because my days have been less hectic compared to the recent past thus a little bit more freedom. Though, it never feels sufficient to sit across a screen that displays their faces in real time. It always amuses me how we can pick up the ball the last place we left it, and that is not a pun on the World Cup I assure you.

Always, I’m under the impression, that I fall in love with the same type of people that I call my friends. The people who are bright and passionate, willing to fight for their space in the world, the one with a flame inside them that tends to be passed around, thus encouraging and inspiring others. And at the end of the day after a few hours of texting or on video chat, I think to myself, I have surrounded myself with the most exceptional people. And once you surround yourself with those people, that tends to rub off on you.

A friend of mine is building an irrigation system for tribes in Sub-Saharan Africa, another is helping the same organization equipping them with solar power energy. Some have started their own businesses taking risks and overcoming challenges on their own. I have friends who have graduated this year from the world’s leading medical schools, law schools, and art programs. Yesterday my friend told me he passed his multi-state bar exam in the 98th percentile and scored the highest on the hardest section, his goal is to be the next Supreme Court Justice. A Skype conversation with my friend living in India, though not Indian and very Irish, learned to be an optometrist just to perform pro bono surgeries for orphans around the world as she herself was one and was in need of serious eye treatments.

My dreams have altered, have refined, and have developed more depth all because I have become involved with the most magnificent people, in my opinion, in the world. And so this weekend, I do have a few things to tend to for my next step plans and hopefully getting some much needed work in. Please do follow along on Instagram as I will be prepping for a very special collaboration. Hope you, wherever you are, have the most beautiful of weekends. Always with love, S.
