travel toiletries

A little over a year ago I took a trip from the tundra of Scotland to milder winter of London and then to Dubai and India. Four completely different places, let alone completely different climates. London was damp and cool while Scotland was damp and humid. Dubai was extra dry, whereas India {in December} was surprisingly pleasant. After doing such travel like that before, I put together a beauty regimen that beautifully accommodates the four distinct climates.

{st. ives fresh skin apricot scrub}

This is usually the answer to all my skin prayers. The versatile exfoliating cleanser can be used twice a week, three days apart in the hotter or more humid climates, like Dubai and Scotland. And perfect once a week for India and London. Though in India, I would find myself sometimes exfoliating twice a week as pollution can impact your skin causing more oil secretion. It’s natural, not non-irritant. I highly recommend the fresh skin line as it is slightly moisturizing.

{bumble & bumble seaweed shampoo & styling lotion}

Some shampoos can be too drying and conditioners can be too moisturizing depending on the weather. I’m not sure about you, but the amount of shampoo and conditioner changes per season. As it gets cooler outside, my conditioner intake increases as cold weather has a drying affect on your scale. I’m an proponent of the Bumble & Bumble line, and trust me, you get what you pay for. The Seaweed shampoo and conditioner is great for all climates and keeps your scalp hydrated and your hair clean. Perfect for all weathers. The Styling Lotion should be sprayed on right before using your hair tools. Using adaptors and convertors on hairdryers and straighteners can mess with the voltage going in the machine, sometimes over heating it. The lotion will protect your hair from the temperature change.

{la roche-posay moisturizing cream with sunscreen}

With rosacea-prone skin and extreme sensitivity to extreme climate changes, I wanted a moisturizing cream that doubled a sunscreen and didn’t feel too filmy on my skin. La Roche-Posay makes the most incredible skincare line for all types. I’m also able to apply this particular cream on my face, mixed with my foundation. Perfect for all day exploring as it is long lasting.

{oil-free eye makeup remover, rosewater toner, baby lips lip balm}

An oil-free, non-stinging, gentle formula that is perfect for wiping away eye makeup. In India and Dubai, my lashes and eyes are prone to dust particles due to the pollution and sand, so I find this gentle enough to clean away particles. The lightweight product also doesn’t leave a residue. The rosewater toner is perfect to keep your skin cool and close up your pores when sprayed on. I like to spray a bit on a cotton ball in the evenings when I visit India to remove excess dirt. A simple, all natural toner. Finally, maybelline’s baby lips lip balm goes on smooth and moisturizes up to 8 hours. It also doubles to protect your lips from the sun and winter winds.
