Whenever I visit home, my parents have me make one thing: tres leches cake. It is a bit of a process and a slightly delicate process too, and so I often find it a bit of a challenge to get motivated to make the cake when my parents ask me to make it. But since I love them so, it only seems right to actually fulfill their wishes. But when I was at the grocery store recently, I found myself in the baking aisle among the sweet condensed milk so it only seemed fitting that I make my parents’ favorite cake since I’m currently missing them. But of course, I had to put the c&é spin on it and made it into a trifle. Almost too cute to eat.Oh, and here’s a helpful hint. I used strawberries as they were the last of the season and though they were not the sweetest, macerating them seemed to bring out the sweetness perfectly.
