♫♪ Seth MacFarlane – Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Maybe it’s the weather, the gloominess mixed with the cold and I’m wanting nothing but a few cuddles and a new novel to crack the spine of. Or maybe it’s the fact that this time of the year is for close friends and family, and though I know I’m not missing any of that, it’s still hard to be apart from my family this time of the year. And though I know we will see each other soon, it’s the association of Christmas with loved ones that make it just all the more appealing. Don’t you worry, as I will not be spending the holidays alone, but it’s a bit strange to be away even though it’s not my very first.

This week I experienced something so different, so emotionally distinctive that I couldn’t quite pin-point. My younger brother and I have been texting quite a bit recently as he starts a new, very exciting, and quite challenging chapter in his life. He finds that debriefing with me has helped him compartmentalize what he has learned and re-define his goal to fit with what he wants to achieve. Though, I found myself almost trying to ignore his messages, as his name on my display screen literally made my heart hurt. A sudden feeling I had never experienced before.

Many of you may know that I have been the adventurer always. One that has crossed nebulous borders, hitch-hiked and slept in tents. The contrary to what I give off here. So this separation from my brother, or family, is not a foreign feeling. So yes, this week was a bit strange in that respect. Instead, I embraced his messages and thought about the opportunity I have been given to grow with him as he pursues his career and paves his path to success. There is something to love, nourish and grow in everything and everyone.

This weekend I have a few meetings and catching-up to do before the holidays hit! I really hope it is a lovely weekend wherever you are. xo -S

Hey Supal! It’s sooo amazing that you got to be a part of the design process on the
Harrod’s holiday windows! I especially love the second to last photo. So exquisite! Like you, I won’t be going home for Christmas. It’s my second year in a row and I miss my family like crazy, especially at this time of the year. Just trying to make the best of it.

I hope you have fun making new holiday memories. Cracking open a new novel sounds like a great plan! I did the same this weekend.:) I’ll be posting my winter reading list on the blog tomorrow so check it out. It was soooo difficult to narrow things down!

    Happy weekend!

    xo

    • Oh my goodness, thank you for sharing that Donna! I thought I was the only one. It’s so nice to hear from people that are in similar, yet proactive situations 🙂 I went and checked your blog yesterday in case I missed the list!!

Also, sending you an email soon! It has taken me a few days to draft haha SO much to share 🙂 x

You’re most welcome, Supal! I am glad I made you feel a bit better. We need to be there for one another as best we can. That’s what life is all about.:) I haven’t published the reading list yet. I am still trying to narrow it down as best I can. Right now I’m sitting at 12 books! I am a bit indecisive. Every time I think I am done, another book pops up on my radar.

I am aiming for tomorrow the latest so be sure to check back.

  • (Obviously I am sooooooooo late to this party!!)

I am SO gutted I missed these when they were up! I absolutely loved reading the ‘behind the scenes’ on creating these displays and seeing your beautiful creations in these photos – absolutely magical! I am so proud of you (I was back then but still am now!) and how much you have achieved. I know you worked so hard on this! xxx
