my morning routine

If you were in high school, college or graduate school with me you probably remember me being
the late sleeper and the ridiculously early riser. Still to this day, my early mornings are my most
productive hours and the day goes on its descend from there. I’m always inspired by other people’s routines
as it helps me adapt mine and make it efficient and enjoyable. And to top it off, I was inspired by Cupcakes
& Cashmere’s morning routine that she shared not too long ago, so I thought I would go off of that. I would
love to hear about your experience in the comments too!

I wake up…

Typically naturally around 5:30am, but toss around in bed until 6am. Only on days when I have a lot
on my plate, do I get up directly after my eyes open. Regardless, I always set my alarm for 5:45am.

I typically feel…

Since removing all caffeine from my diet {more on that next month} I feel very refreshed and
well-slept. I don’t have the groggy feeling right before having coffee. I look forward to making
a pot of fresh mint tea.

First thing I do when I wake up…

Unfortunately, I look at my phone. Having a start-up that deals with international trade and regulation
means I may have a few missed calls or emails I need to tend to as soon as possible. If I
don’t have very much that needs tending to right away, then I will open up my New York Times app and
read the headlines of the day.

The next thing I do…

I make a pot of fresh mint tea, brush my teeth, do a few yoga stretches to get my blood flowing.
I love to incorporate Yoga with Adriene’s Gentle Morning Yoga routine if time permits.

My favorite part of my routine…

Watching the sunrise and seeing London at its quiet moments. After living in big, bustling cities of
America, it’s quite bizarre for me to see that people casually saunter to their workplace. So I prefer
to sit on or stand near my window ledge and watch the sunrise and enjoy the rare bits of a quiet London street.

shower scenario

I started a new fitness routine, the Kayla Itsine Bikini Body Guides, have you heard of them? It’s
a really tough, exhilarating, yet short workout. Being quite active and athletic in the past, it’s
something I enjoy, but definitely need to take a proper shower afterwards and get ready for the day.

my beauty routine

It’s quite simple. I go for a tinted moisturizer unless I have a shoot or major meeting that day.
Add a little blush and swipe some mascara on my lashes. Sometimes I work from home, in which case I
usually just moisturize and call it at that.

for breakfast, I usually eat…

I’m a crazy person and have two breakfasts. Before my workout, I had a small bowl of porridge or muesli.
Just enough to get me through a 45 minute workout. After I shower and as I’m getting ready, I
usually make a single egg and steam some vegetables and have half an avocado or a tablespoon of yoghurt.

the hardest part of my routine is…

I don’t really get too much time to just relax. I’m usually on-the-go first thing in the morning and
just have a few seconds to breathe when I take my first sips of my tea. My assistant will call me
and go over my daily schedule and tasks as I’m going over strategy reports and checking deadlines.
It can get hectic and I hate that first thing in the morning.

the last thing I do before I head out the door is…

I put on my shoes, spray a little perfume, check my lipstick, put on my headphones and find a song to
listen to on the way to a meeting or wherever I’m off to. If I do have meetings, I’m out the
door no later than 9am.

  • I like your morning routine, it’s really thought-out! I’m also a morning person and feel super productive during early hours of the day <33

  • Love this post! Your morning routine sounds lovely! I’m also one that’s very productive in the morning and likes to wake up early – if I don’t I feel like I’ve lost most of the day!! I also enjoy a little yoga routine in the morning, feels so lovely to gently wake up the muscles! x

    Giada | Miel Café

    • Hi Giada!! I feel the same way, I just feel as if I haven’t done anything all day haha 🙂 Are you more of a tea or coffee person in the morning?

      • Totally coffee!! Although I like tea after my morning yoga session as well 🙂 x

  • love this post and amazing photos! I wish I could be a morning person, but i’m not. waking up at 5:30am sounds like torture to me lol. but I do make sure I have a early bed time and I wake up at the same time everyday. It also is cause I work from home! I also have 2 breakfasts! on days when I go to yoga in the mornings, I eat a little before going and then have a massive breakfast that involves eggs always!

    • HAHA! Yeah, 5:30 can be a bit abusive huh? As long as you’re consistent and not running around like a chicken with its head cut off, right?

  • Jenessa Sheffield

you make waking up sound so wonderful lol I really dont like mornings, maybe ill incorporate some of your routine and see how i feel! Hope you have a great day, sending loves!

    • Hahaha! Mornings are super romantic though! Where I live in London can get busy, so an early morning lets me experience a bit of calm and serenity 🙂

  • lingo10

This is inspiring I like your routine and a glimpse once again into an intimate account of what things you like such as yoga (which I am also a big fan of, evening and morning yoga) thanks for sharing 🙂

    • Oh I’m so glad you think so and enjoyed this post too. Will share more soon and let me know if there is anything you want to read about, yeah? 🙂 x

  • Marta Pozzan
  • Molly Hogan

I can’t believe you cut out caffeine! Good for you!! I could never do that 🙂

  • Ron

I need to make changes to my morning routine or my daily routine in general. Your routine seems to be a relaxing one yet productive. I have to start by going to bed earlier and breathing in that morning goodness that you can only get before 8 am (so it seems)

    • Thanks so much for stopping by, Ron! Yes, I definitely can’t get into anything heavy in the morning without my caffeine kicking in haha. I definitely see that earlier nights and subsequent early mornings are so much easier. x

  • Joy

Lovely photos, what kind of tea do you like. I have those blanket too, makes my bed feel so warm.

    • Thank you, Joy! I am loving the Kusmi tea Detox blend and lately have been doing lots of fresh mint for summer.

  • what a busy morning! i have to say if you took photos of me during my mornings it would look like scrubbing yogurt off the floor, throwing hair in messy bun, making sure to brush teeth before i go to preschool drop off! I wish I could blame it on my kids but I have always been a serial late sleeper and not a morning person. These days, I often nurse Jack first thing (around 6 and catch up on my favorite blogs in Bloglovin) and then get started. I really want to start exercising and working in the mornings like Tiffany and Jaelan do and today I actually woke up naturally at 4:30 and started work! Miracles happen Supal! Miracles happen! And I am pretty hooked! Love getting to see more into your daily life–and sorry for the longest comment in the world!

    • HAHAHAHAHAHA! Is it strange that I know exactly what you’re talking about? I’m not sure how you clean up after the daily yoghurt massacres. I can’t imagine how my mornings will be when I have children (in the very far future). I definitely have full control now, but I know that will change as my personal life evolves. Oh man, I NEVER used to enjoy mornings. I started changing habits like eating early to get to bed earlier. Forcing myself to turn off the computer so I can make time for reading (or magazine perusing). Also, it’s important for me to look for a reason to wake up in the morning. Recently, I’ve been going on REALLY early morning walks around my neighborhood (to steal a rose from someone’s rose garden and I try to get there before they wake up-I think this is illegal/trespassing). And I love these types of comments, so don’t you worry 🙂

  • Anna

It was really interesting to read. I also like to watch YouTube videous about it 🙂 It would be interesting to know more about the music you listen to or even your playlist.

    • ANNA! So happy to see you here on the blog. I listen to literally anything depending on my mood or what I’m working on. I grew up dancing and playing an assortment of instruments, so music inspires me. I prefer the random Deep House playlists on Spotify and definitely listen to a lot of classical jazz in the morning!
