moments of summer

{bit of life: moments of summer}

I needed this.

It’s been a while since I’ve given you a proper update on things going on my life, huh? Many of you keep up with me via snapchat and you’re able to get a good glimpse into my days {and nights #DesaiAfterDark}. To be completely honest, summer has been such a whirlwind. Earlier this season I was in Florida visiting my family and getting some work things sorted. Coming back I had a series of major deadlines I need to get through and then came the expansion of the business, revisiting goals, and blueprinting our plans for the future. Since then I’ve decided I need to stop working on the weekends because it was having a toll on my well-being. Things were under control and I couldn’t do anything more. So weekends that were usually spent sitting at my desk were replaced with days in the park sipping pimms and evenings out with my friends dancing all night. I’m truly embracing life.

sunday-ing in style

There have been leisurely Sunday mornings with some gentle tunes in the background whilst eating breakfast in bed and flipping through the latest issue of Vogue. I’ve found myself seeking inspiration in ways that are not Pinterest to fully understand recent themes and trends. Sunday’s have also been for taking long, long walks and ending in a bodega for an early dinner. UberEats have become a late night treat with their treats from Snog (salted caramel, strawberries and gluten free brownies, please)!

coffee dates

You may have noticed on Instagram that I’ve been hopping from one car to another meeting with readers, friends or just taking a newspaper with me. I’ve built quite an arsenal of favorite cafes to visit and to name a few: Monocle Cafe for the iced latte, Palm Vaults for the velvet pink latte and Fink’s Salt & Sweet for the sweet treats and Insta-content.

beauty things

My summer routines are always very simple. Tinted moisturizers and multiple layers of mascara with a touch of bronzer on the cheek, that’s about it. Here are a few things I’ve been loving lately:

ThisWorks perfect legs skin miracle is great to add just a tad of color to your legs whilst pampering them with all the lovely ingredients in it. Yes, brown girls also have #PaleLegProblems. My legs look incredibly healthy and lightly shimmery.

Avéne Cleanance is something I was forced to get because my daily Avéne cleanser was sold out, but I think this was a happy accident. Never have I ever washed my face and I can actually see the dirt in the water! It doesn’t strip your face of all the healthy oils and can remove all dirt and makeup pretty easily in one wash.

I’ve been adding a drop or two of sweet orange essential oil to my moisturizer in the morning and it has done wonders with brightening my face. People have actually noticed a difference after just doing it for 1 week.

Benefit is a brand that I’m completely a virgin to. I needed to pick up concealer and decided to go for the bo•ing concealer, which is “industrial strength” and the girl meets pearl liquid highlighter and I am completely in LOVE. Nothing feels cake-y and a little goes a long way for both products. I just add the highlighter to the top of my cheekbones and sometimes add a bit in my foundation for a dewey look for an alfresco dinner.

CocoWhite was actually sent over to me to try out. I wasn’t really sure how I felt about swishing around coconut oil in my mouth for 15 minutes a day. After a close examination of my teeth, I noticed that my teeth were becoming way too acclimatized to the British tea culture. I decided to try it out and saw a significant difference in just two days! The coconut oil comes in different flavors and the mint version was quite refreshing.

Zoya sent over a few lipsticks. After wearing their darker hues all through winter, I was hesitant to try out the brighter colors because I like to go with my natural palette. Both of Zoya’s Mellie and Candy have been in rotation this summer though. The pinks are pungent, matte and very moisturizing! I actually got quite a few compliments on my lips on snapchat too #WinkyFace. I love wearing it when I don’t want to wear much of eye makeup.

So, tell me, what’s going on with you this summer? Done anything exciting or discover anything new?

  • Sarah

    I seriously love your lip shape and it seems that any color looks amazing on you! I saw CocoWhite on your snapchat too and ordered a box, going to start using it soon. Love these updates, Supal. xxx

    • Aw, thank you so much! That is so sweet of you 🙂 And please do let me know how you get on with CocoWhite xx

  • There was the trip to Cambodia, then lots of summer festival events and lately, have been working on redesigning the website (cannot wait for the re-launch!).

    Eternally,
    Rosie

    • That sounds epic, Rosie! Cambodia is on my bucket list for sure. Good luck with the relaunch, I’m sure it will be fantastic! x

  • Your summer sounds (and looks) glorious. Mine has been hot and humid, but fall is looking up! Lots of travel in the horizon 😀

    • YAS! Something to look forward to at least. AND you’ve been killing it on the fitness front this summer <3

  • Simi Atanda Lindgren

    The images in this are stunning! I’ve heard such good things about the coco white, I’m just slightly anxious to try it as I don’t actually like the taste of coconut (gasp!), would you say it’s not that coconutty? Simi X

    • Thank you so much Simi!! So kind of you as your images are always stunning <3 So CocoWhite is NOT coconut-ty at all. I tried normal coconut oil and couldn't handle it and the CocoWhite mint ones felt and tasted like mouthwash. I think you will be just fine 🙂

  • My summer has also taught me to take time to relax and enjoy life a little. I’ve been taking my weekends and time through out the week to meet up with friends and share some good coffee. By the way Monocle’s iced latte and cinnamon rolls were delicious! Thanks for introducing me to the place! 🙂

    • Oh man they have cardamom rolls too, which means you just have to come back and visit! So happy to hear that you’ve been properly enjoying summer <3 Hope you are well, friend! x

  • Tiffany {A Touch of Grace}

    You have had quite the summer Supal. I’m so happy for all you’ve accomplished and how you’ve been able to expand your business! Such an accomplishment!
    Your snaps are my fave; but I think you knew that.
    And coconut oil in mint?! I need to try that stuff. I’ve been doing oil pulling for a few months now and definitely notice a difference.

    • Aw thank you SO much, Tiffany! It means a lot to me 🙂 Haha, well I snap for you and I think you know that. If CocoWhite ships to the US, you definitely should. It’s a lot easier to handle than normal coconut oil.

    Your hashtag is making me die with laughter! Our summers are usually low key but it’s been a busy one this year for us too. I think when you work with social media like we do, our jobs just never stop. There’s always the pressure to be plugged in and responding to others – that’s my biggest complaint with blogging!

    • HAHA are you laughing about #DesaiAfterDark?! I hope so. No joke, I’m working 24/7, so it’s really nice to let go. You’ve been killing it on the blog (and photography) front though! Plus, you have 2 handsome models 🙂
