Introducing C&É 3.0

Posted in Office

It’s crazy to think that this little corner of the internet of mine is going to be celebrating a milestone birthday soon. A space that I kept only to curate inspirational things and share magical moments for my closest friends and family has an audience that spans the world. I’m honored. With time comes changes and as you already know and have experienced, the site is very shiny and new. This change honestly started last year, but since then there have been subtle changes on the back-end that I wanted to make it easier for you.

I have been working with Made By Kingfisher, a Herefordshire digital agency. I researched patterns, content performance and hot points—then told them the type of user experience I wanted to have. They built a gorgeous site around just that. There will be little changes happening here and there, but the bigger bits are all complete, so I thought I’d give you a little tour around! Shall we?

Visuals

As you have probably guessed, the entire site definitely takes advantage of the visuals I create for the blog. I have always been drawn by colors, textures and various mediums. When it comes to travel, visual imagery is the best way to depict and showcase a place aside from words. There is just enough white space to enhance your experience.

Notes

The Notes section is my favorite feature of all! A section or tab on my blog that allows you to enjoy a livestream essentially of what I’m doing. Showcasing blog posts and Instagrams, but along with visuals and words of what I am up to by the minute. I have a little app on my phone that allows me to share photos and my thoughts in real-time and I think this will be quite the game changer when I’m traveling {before all the content actually comes out}. Definitely take a peruse and let me know what you think. I’m considering adding a bit where I answer frequently asked questions!

Video Content

Video content is displayed pretty much the same. What I love though is when you’re enjoying the content and then a video visual is embedded to take over your browser for you to enjoy in HD. As you know, I plan on making my content more dynamic than ever before and video is definitely something I plan on incorporating more of!

Categories & Search

In previous c&é websites, I didn’t even have a proper search function. Not even a breakdown menu of sorts. Now the major categories: travel, fashion and food have their own menu pages with sub-categories of countries, cities, seasons, and food courses! And finally have a working search bar too. We are looking to create a better toolbar up on top, but want to figure out what is working and what people are searching for internally. I want to make this a place where you can use as a guide, but also follow along on weekly diaries.

The Shop

I kept going back and forth on having a shop page. As you may know, I had a shop page off and on since the beginning of c&é, but the upkeep for a 1-man blog is nearly impossible. It wasn’t until I had a friend come over and die over how well curated my closet actually was. So the ‘Shop’ is a classic curation of all things I am currently loving, lusting and is hanging in my closet. Anything from skincare to lipsticks to statement earrings and cake plates. Instead of curating a collection that I’m constantly updating with valid links, I thought I would put together a shop page of things I are tried and tested and I believe in. See that little shopping bag at the top of the page on the right? Well, you can click that to keep up with everything. This will be a monthly edit that will be updated to fit that month’s favorites taking into consideration the season, time and such.

You can shop my favorite things via The Shop!

Schedule

And of course, no blog is complete without some content. Many of you may already have noticed that I changed the scheduling a bit since last year. Instead of every 4 days, which can be hard to keep track of, I wanted to have a concrete day. So here is the following:
